Braided Line, 4 Strand vs 8 Strand
NiteBite
I would like to get your thoughts on Braided line. Particularly 4 Strand vs 8 Strand.  I like the casting distance of the 8 strand but find that it starts to fray fairly quickly at the first 24 to 36 inches below the leader. If I am not on top of checking my line, I end up losing my lure. I feel that the 4 strand holds up longer. Any suggestions and thoughts?
Bruce, thanks to your question I did some investigating. I had never really thought about it until I did. Seems 4 strand is good around structure like rocks. The 8 strand is better for casting.

Here's a utube video that did a good job explaining.

Forgot to add that I use the 4 strand and now I know why. I fished Montauk heavily before moving to Orient. Both have lots of rocks.  LOL
